Alice -- An Educational Software that Teaches Kids Programming in a 3-D Environment -- provided free from CMU
Yale University provides free access to live recordings of many classes through Open Yale. Harvard and MIT have similar offerings through harvard @ Home and MIT Open Courseware. A wealth of lectures, classes, and broadcasts from a variety of institutions are distributed for free through iTunes U. They can be played on any computer or transfered to an iPod.
MIT also has a free Scratch language for computer programming (http://scratch.mit.edu/).
